Suicide ?

One afternoon I climbed up to our rooftop and sat on the dusty roof of our house and I always liked the feeling up there when you lie down in the roof  and see the great blue sky… the great blue sky alone (unlike most of the times when you look at the sky but other things like lamp post or building is there). Well this afternoon I walked in the edge of our rooftop and I could see people busy and cars passing by what would happen to me if I jumped from the building. “No one has the right to take your own life cause it is not your own… the life that we live is only borrowed from our Lord” Ofcourse this answer came in split seconds (I guess that’s what happen if you go to a Catholic school in the 1st half of your life and in a Christian school in the second half cause they do have the same answer for this question) and I suddenly taught of this question “What are the teachings of other religions about suicide”. Since I’m a chinese I have other friends who’s family’s belief is Buddhism and I asked one of my friends if she knew the answer but shockingly she didn’t know it and she said she doesn’t really know Buddhism well, It’s weird how can someone like her declare herself a buddhist, she even had this bracelet that has something to do with being a buddhist and doesn’t know what she believes in. Anyway here is the question “How does Buddhism view suicide?” I’m interested in Buddhism but I would be glad to know diff. religions’s view in this matter. Many thanks for the answers ^^

How To Write A Book Review...

I’m tired of my daily routine that’s why I started this blog. I’ve been reading books for quite some time and I want to try to write a book review. Since I don’t have any idea on how to review a book… I searched the google “How To Write A Book Review”. This site helped http://www.lavc.edu/Library/bookreview.htm. I may ask our school librarian if she could teach me on how to do this. The plan is I’ll write 1 book review for about 2 weeks and please do comment in these reviews even if these comments are negative though please leave a suggestion on how to improve it , it will greatly help for me to develop this skill. thanks a lot

A Sad Start

I'm starting this blog 2 days after my aunt(my father's younger sister) passed away. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on Jan.27,09 - April 28,09. Fighting with her disease for 3 months. She didn't want to undergo chemotherapy because of all the side effects it cost, in addition she heard many patients who underwent the therapy and had bad results so she picked radiation instead of chemotherapy. She took many alternative medicines and underwent radiation session but didn't finished it. Not long her condition worsened and was transfered to ICU(Intensive Care Unit) for 3 days before she went away. My dad flew from Mindoro and reached the hospital April 28,09 (morning). There's something in the way dad entered the room that suddenly brought tears to my eyes, maybe it was the lowering of head after seeing my aunt being supported by so many "life support" machines. The worst thing in these three months is seeing her gradually being weakened by cancer. Honestly I never expected anything like this would happen, cancer is constantly being used in drama movies but it did happen.
